Blue Wale of Catoosa, OK

Like most of our adventures, this one starts with picking a place on the map and going!

It's April in Oklahoma. What this means is, you have no idea what the weather is going to do from one day to another, and sometimes hour to hour is challenging! There has been lots of rain lately and this was finally a good day!

We jump into the car. Have plenty of gas and take off, without knowing where exactly we are headed. The thought of going to Broken Arrow was crossing our mind, this is when I pull out the handy dandy GPS and look up the Blue Whale to see exactly how far it is. Turns out it's not as far as we thought! Off we go!

If your ever in the area, and miss this thing.... I have no idea!!! This thing is HUGE!!!

As you go down to the whale there are memorial bricks that are just amazing, and signs posted for no swimming! You get to go through the whale and can climb all over him if you would like.

There is a little picnic area to the side where even some of the chairs are whales (and totally cute too) along with a sandbox to play in.

On the other side of the whale is an old pathway that used to lead off to an old dock that went out into the middle of the pond. However nature has taken most of the dock back and you can no longer get out there.

There is a little gift/information shop where you come in at and they have so many old photos and you flip through to see what it was like in the glory days. On this day the woman who was behind the counter gave me a run down of it came to be and it's a truly fascinating story and just amazing.

As you go back go parking you can see where the old letting zoo used to be and there is even an old trail to take you back, not sure how far as we did not go on it this time. Nature has also taken this trail back.

This was totally worth the trip and can't wait to go back and visit again!!

Travel on!!!!
