Viking Runes Birthday Trip

Planned this one for a few weeks. Wanted to take Shawn somewhere new for his Birthday, and it worked out that everyone comeing hadn't been there before either!

To Heavner Oklahoma we went! Also, how did people find where to go before GPS. Now, I can read a map, but so glad for GPS!!

There are really no signs but smaller ones that read Heavner Runes. Not until you get to the entrance!

They have the cutest little gift shop, and all proceeds go back to the park!! Inside the shop they also have the runs that they found in Shawnee/Potao.

Break for lunch and group photo!

Right off the gift shop is the pathway leading down to the Runs. This is an amazing path. You can stay on this path and see the building the covers the big rock or you can take the path the goes down to it!

Right before you get to the building there is a cross and little history. Its said to be the "entrances" to a cave that no one can seem to find anymore!!

Now for BIG attraction!! This thing is huge!!!! And so cool!!

We fallowed the path back up, stopped at the very little waterfall thing, was asked if the water was cold.. no one even wanted to touch it, little too murky for us!

Back up at the top to look down!

Went on the foot trail to check out the scenery. So pretty!!

Came out at the amphitheater! And decided to continue on with he trail to the lookout point!!

So worth it!! Its a very easy very short trail!!

Up at the top there was this fire pit that we called "stone hing" that had what looked like "thrones" made out of rock!

The view!!!

As we made our way back down we found were the children played!! Too funny not to share!!

And not sure how we missed the trolls!

This was such a fun trip and we are planning on going back in the fall for sure!! This place is going to look amazing in the fall!!

Travel On!!!
